Reach out with your feelings.

Do not stand at my grave and weep;

I am not there.

I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn’s rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there.

I did not die.

—“Written at least 50 years ago, this poem has been attributed at different times to J.T. Wiggins (an English ‘migr’ to America), two Americans: Mary E. Fry and Marianne Reinhardt, and more recently to Stephen Cummins, a British soldier killed in Northern Ireland who left a copy for his relatives. Others claim it is a Navajo burial prayer.
The following was taken from The London Magazine December / January 2005:
Mary Elizabeth Frye nee Clark was born in Dayton, Ohio, on November 13th 1905. She died on September 15th 2004. Mary Frye, who was living in Baltimore at the time, wrote the poem in 1932. She had never written any poetry, but the plight of a German Jewish girl, Margaret Schwarzkopf, who was staying with her and her husband, inspired the poem. She wrote it down on a brown paper shopping bag. Margaret Schwarzkopf  had been worrying about her mother, who was ill in Germany. The rise of Anti-Semitism had made it unwise for her to join her mother. When her mother died, she told Mary Frye she had not had the chance to stand by her mother’s grave and weep.
Mary Frye circulated the poem privately. Because she never published or copyrighted it, there is no definitive version. She wrote other poems, but this, her first, endured. Her obituary in The Times made it clear that she was the undisputed author this famous poem, which has been recited at funerals and on other appropriate occasions around the world for seventy years. A 1996 Bookworm poll named it the Nation’s Favourite Poem” [London Magazine Editor, Sebastian Barker] “

How Long

How long ago did we change? How long until we’re the same? Your love left an imprint on me, that is not easily forgotten. I miss you, mother

I have a growing and totally healthy obsession with the Circus

It captivates the child watching his classmates play,

and the person walking the common route to sense others.

It’s the sudden raindrop taunting parched daisies,

and the balloon floating just out of reach,

it’s the last three, crippled steps of a staircase hard- conquered.

It’s the reason why weakness exists in all,

but also why the nature of persistence, its very embodiment

are those whom exude strength… the victors.

I know this was the most Hallmarked, cliched moment of the movie…but it was so beautiful

The Last 10 Days

I finished watching all 7 seasons. In a little less than two months. This means that for two months, I’m watched an average of 2.69811 hours of Buffy every single day, faithfully, for two months. I never finished 30 days of Buffy (probably because I was too busy watching it), so I think I should finish it now and take a little break, if only for a week.

Day 20: Best Spike-centric Episode- Buffy’s return, when she confides in him about being in Heaven… or actually, the very end, chosen, is my favorite for Spike when he outlines his love of Buffy, when he describes that he doesn’t love her out of a desire for her to want him back, just that he loves who she is without expectations.
Day 21: Best Willow-centric Episode- When she goes evil, but there’s still enough humanity in her for Xander to save the world. I’m pretty sure that’s everybody’s… I also did enjoy “I Robot, You Jane,” mostly because I freaking loved Willow in high school.
Day 22: Best Xander-centric Episode- I would give the same answer as I did above for Willow, but my favorite is actually the episode where Xander stops the undead gang from blowing up the high school (not the body- split).
Day 23: Two Characters You Wanted To Get Together That Never Did- Dawn and Xander (in the tv series)
Day 24: Favorite Example of 90s Special Effects- Screw effects, let’s talk about 90s costumes.
Day 25: Favorite Buffyverse Saying- Five by Five. Ode to Faith.
Day 26: Favorite Scooby Moment- When they are en route to fight Adam. The resolution to their inter- Scooby fight, and when they combine their essence to destroy him. All of this occurs in like three, wonderfully sappy minutes.
Day 27: Cutest Moment- Oh I don’t even know. When Xander gives Buffy his speech about how she shouldn’t let Riley go, and goes home to Anya? When Giles flips out at the Watcher Council and exposes his fatherly love for Buffy? When Spike rampages to save Dawn from the Biker- Demons? When Angel and Buffy admit they’re in love?
Day 28: Character You Love To Hate- Glory. Love that bitch, hate her too.
Day 29: Episode You Hate That Everyone Else Loves- I’m not sure what everyone else loves, but I really wasn’t interested in the Trio; I thought their episodes were crappy, and I hated Warren in a disgusted way- I truly wish he was never part of the show.
Day 30: What You Think Made Buffy So Great- She was a true hero, Giles said that best when he explained to Ben why he was killing him. She was relatable, and a true hero.

It Isn’t Easy Being a Mouse

Tiny feet scuttle across barren floors,

terrified of mis-stepping

or catching her paw in a trap.

If only she were giant enough to even the score,

or be moved by her dreams,

rather than live in fear of the snap.

Oh dreams, sweet dreams,

of rolling, edible hills,

of buildings of unpasteurized beauty,

to live fleeting life in a dairy mill.

And still she scampers decidedly,

through a disappearing hole,

to comfort and security

in a life far beyond the reaches of a troll.

In the dark of night

She struts in the dark of night,

neither frightened nor feeling brave.

Lays back against an alley wall

and takes pause to dig her grave.

She sheds no tears at thought of death

nor does she pray or plead,

She only savors each lone breath,

and buries with her seeds.

Flashy daisies, tulips, and rings of sun!

They bring fresh life, float with the breeze

and spread their beauty vast

burrowing fragile roots among lush trees,

soft shadows ever cast.
